Heyo World!

Hope everyone is doing amazing today! The next upcoming 8 blogs (including this one) are all from my 2 week summer course in UCLA’s Art and Science class.

Hope everyone is doing amazing on their first day! My name is Michele and I am from Rancho Palos Verdes. Mostly we are known for being the little bubble on a hill because of how secluded we are as a city. There are 3 other cities next to us but they are all almost the same city. We are mostly separated into cities where there is only residential homes. The closest city that most know about is Torrance or Santa Monica but even those are a stretch. Although, the perks of being on a beach/ hilly area are all of the fun trails that line up and down the coast. One of my hobbies started from exploring those trials and growing an affinity to hiking with my mom up and down the coast. I also love to garden, cook and bake, and doodle. I mostly sketch with pencil but I'm open to all media and all new forms of art. There are so many different things to learn and new ways to adapt art and science into so I am excited to see what this core has in store.

Today, my favorite activity of the day was a close tie between making the sketch/notebook and the scavenger hunt.

Through the scavenger hunt, we were able to visit so many new places on UCLA's Campus, one being Powell Library. There we were able to view all the amazing patterns in all the tiles and the lovely magnificent dome ceilings.

We were even able to take many pictures of us just messing around on the beautiful campus. I think this brought us closer as a group to do together and with free roam we are able to give thought to endless creativity.

Finally having a book binding activity. Although I couldn't complete all of the book binding today, I was able to learn a new skill that I would probably never have learned outside of this class. I had no clue all the work and creativity needed to make books so breath taking. I am very interested into trying to do the Japanese style of book binding some day because of this course.

Hope to talk more soon!
